Check out who WOWED the Washington Post

We want to send a huge THANK YOU to the Washington Post for their amazing review of our best-selling King Cake…

“Sucre’s king cake, slightly larger than a Danish ring, arrives practically glowing with glittery, iridescent icing. A relative newcomer to the New Orleans king cake scene, this Magazine Street bakery quickly won over the city’s discerning palates. Sure enough, the combination of whipped cream cheese filling and buttery, yeasted pastry wowed our testers.”

My lovely mother-in law who lives near Audubon park just mailed us our annual King Cake way up here in the wintery wilds of Michigan (hey look – there goes a moose…) After 25 years of king cakes from the best bakeries in New Orleans, I must say we were very impressed by the arrival of our shimmering, iridescent beauty. It was so pretty we didn’t want to eat it, but when we finally did after careful study, our mouths were filled with a beautiful flavor: light but rich, simple but layered, complex but with just a touch of whimsy. We fully recommend this sophisticated culinary delight over any other cake in NuOrlinz. Dis cake iz da best, cap…see ya’ll in da spring on Magazeen….

well i am a native of south Louisiana — i have had every king cake made in the area and on a recent trip to new orleans i decided to stop by with my boys to pick up a special treat — i have always heard great things and being so close decided to try — we picked up 2 king cakes and came home to surprise hubby — well we cracked open the king cake and let me say – it is the BEST king cake anyone in out house has ever had — Kuddos to Sucre — a tradition that will stay in our family for many years to come — laissez les bons temps roulers!!!!!
